This week, hundreds of thousands of Americans will celebrate National Bike to Work Week, by commuting to work on their bikes. With any luck it won’t pour on us the whole time here in Central Texas so we can join in too. Biking to work is a great way to do something good for yourself and everyone else in Austin by getting one more car off the road. Last week, the Census Bureau released a new report on U.S. commuting, which reports a 60% increase in bike commuting over the past ten years.
With traffic problems on the rise and a new network of cycling friendly routes, Austin is making it easier for more people to enjoy commuting to work. Cyclists are often able to travel faster than cars during rush hour. How will you celebrate Bike to Work Week?
