August 29th Training Ride Moved To San Marcos

Our amazing Volunteer Training Ride Team had originally planned the August 29th training ride to start from 5 Mile Dam in Kyle. This is always a favorite with riders and would usually include a dunk in the San Marcos River afterwards.

The Memorial Day floods left their mark on the community though and the bridge that crosses the Blanco River near Five Mile Dam was completely washed out and has not been rebuilt. It was the only safe way for cyclists to get back to the Five Mile Damn area so we have moved the start location to San Marcos. Meet up is at 7 am and we ride out at 7:30 prompt.

It is getting hotter and heat exhaustion is something we all need to be mindful of when riding. Please be sure to bring two full water bottles and drink often. Also listen to your ride guides. Often someone else can see the signs of heat exhaustion when all you can see is finishing what you set out to do. All of our rides are supported with car support (SAG), water and snacks but we are not equipped to deal with large numbers of people becoming overheated on these all volunteer events. Be safe, be mindful, look out for each other, and have fun!
