Announcement: Texas Mamma Jamma Ride Supports the Big Pink Bus

You may have noticed the banner on our website and Facebook page that reads, “Shifting Gears for the Road Ahead,” and today we are delighted to share our exciting news. It involves Lone Star Circle of Care, the Big Pink Bus and Taylor, TX.

The new year brought an exciting change in organizational structure for the Texas Mamma Jamma Ride. Mamma Jamma is now part of Lone Star Circle of Care (LSCC) and the funds we raise will directly support the Big Pink Bus, which hits the road in May bringing accessible and affordable mobile mammograms to underserved and uninsured women in Central Texas.

The launch of the Big Pink Bus could not have come at a more critical time. The pandemic has caused many women to delay their yearly mammogram leading to a spike in later-stage breast cancer diagnoses. In addition, the American Cancer Society reports that only 40% of uninsured Central Texas women have had a mammogram in the past two years.

We know that early detection of breast cancer leads to far better outcomes and saves lives. The Big Pink Bus will directly address the need for accessible screenings for our neighbors who need them most, and Mamma Jamma is proud to support this vitally important lifesaving initiative.

We are delighted to announce that this year’s ride will be in Taylor, TX on Saturday, September 18. This charming, historic Texas town is just 30 miles northeast of Austin and features live music, BBQ, breweries, unique shops and so much more.

Listen to Mamma Jamma Ride Director, Marion Martin, share more about our impactful new partnership with Lone Star Circle of Care, the mission of the Big Pink Bus and get a peek of downtown Taylor.

Mark your calendars as we gear up for 2021 ride registration in April. We cannot wait to have everyone back and riding in person on September 18, 2021 in Taylor, Texas.
