Tuesday Tip: The Life-Saving Mission of the Big Pink Bus
Mamma Jamma Tuesday Tips!
Helpful Tips for Successful Fundraising
Welcome to this week’s Tuesday Tip about the life-saving mission of The Big Pink Bus, which is directly supported by the funds you raise for the Texas Mamma Jamma Ride. Lone Star Circle of Care’s Big Pink Bus offers Central Texas women a path to accessible, affordable, and high-quality breast cancer screenings through its state-of-the-art mobile mammography service.
Early Detection Saves Lives:
If breast cancer is found early, there are many more treatment options available and most importantly, a far better chance for survival. For example, a woman whose breast cancer is detected at stage 1 has a 99% survival rate. Compare that to a survival rate of just 27% for breast cancer detected at stage 4, and it is clear to see the critical difference that early detection makes in saving lives.
Share the Life-Saving Mission:
Sharing the mission of the Big Pink Bus through your fundraising messaging will help your donors understand the life-saving difference their support makes.
The Big Pink Bus mobile mammography service started in July 2021 and since then more than 3,500 Central Texas women have gotten screened. Approximately 15% of those screened have required additional follow-up after their mammogram indicating potentially concerning findings. To date, 12 cancers have been discovered and treatment begun.

One in eight Central Texas women will face breast cancer at some point in their lives. By raising funds for the Big Pink Bus, you are giving women in our region, who lack access, insurance, and resources a fighting chance to survive a breast cancer diagnosis through early detection. Keep up the good work!
