What is the Texas Mamma Jamma Ride?

The Texas Mamma Jamma Ride is an annual charity bike event that raises funds to support Lone Star Circle of Care’s Big Pink Bus mobile mammography service. Since the first Mamma Jamma ride in 2009, more than $3 million has been distributed to support the breast cancer community. 

When and where will the 2024 Texas Mamma Jamma Ride take place?

Ride day is Saturday, September 21, 2024. Start time is 7:30 am at Murphy Park in Taylor, Texas.

What are the ride day distances?

Routes of 15, 25, 50 and 70 miles are offered. All routes start and finish at Murphy Park in Taylor, Texas.

How experienced a rider do I need to be?

Riders of every ability, from beginner to advanced, are welcome and encouraged! Ride day routes of 15, 25, 50, and 70 miles provide distance options for riders of every skill level.  

Is Mamma Jamma just for women riders? 

No! While women riders account for about 60% of ridership, cyclists of all gender identities are welcome and encouraged to participate in Mamma Jamma!

Registration & Fundraising

What are the registration categories, fees, and fundraising minimums?

There are three registration categories: adult rider (over 18), rider under 18, and virtual rider. Registration fee is $50 per adult rider, virtual rider and rider under 18. A fundraising minimum of $350 is required for each adult rider to ride on ride day. Fundraising is optional for virtual riders and riders under 18. Note: riders under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to participate.

Is the fundraising requirement the same for riders on a team as those not on a team? 

Every adult rider, whether riding as an individual or as a member of a team, must met the $350 fundraising minimum to ride on ride day. 

What do I get for meeting the $350 fundraising minimum?

Adult and virtual riders who meet the $350 fundraising minimum receive a t-shirt, a premium gift, and rider bag loaded with goodies, along with lunch, beer, live music, games, vendor booths, and small-town Texas fun in a family-friendly atmosphere. Riders under 18 get all the merch and benefits… except, of course, the beer! 

What is a Big Wig?

Big Wigs are riders who raise $1,500 or more. In addition to what all riders receive, Big Wigs earn extra-special perks like VIP parking, a post ride massage, and the exclusive Big Wig jersey. In 2023, more than 25% of riders earned Big Wig status. 

How do I create or join a team?

At the start of the registration process, you will be given the option to join or create a team. The person creating the team is the team captain, sets the team goal and manages the team fundraising page. Once the team is created, others may join the team when they register or move to the team if they are already registered. Is there special recognition for top fundraising teams?

Yes! Teams that raise $10,000 or more get a designated team tent at the venue. Team tents provide a great way for teams to gather, take pictures and share the ride day experience. 

What is Classy?

Classy is the online fundraising platform that Mamma Jamma uses for registration and fundraising. Each registered participant creates a personal fundraising page with a dedicated URL to collect donations. 

Can I use Facebook for fundraising?

Yes! You can connect your personal fundraising page on Classy to your Facebook page. Are donations made to Texas Mamma Jamma Ride tax deductible?

Yes, the Texas Mamma Jamma Ride is presented by Lone Star Circle of Care, a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization (EIN Tax ID 74-3001674) and donations are tax-deductible within the guidelines of U.S. tax law. To claim a donation as a deduction on U.S. taxes, donors should keep the email donation receipt, issued for each gift, as an official record. 

Do employer matching gifts count towards my fundraising goal?

Yes! Encourage your donors to check with their employers about matching gift opportunities. Remember to direct matching funds directly to Lone Star Circle of Care (EIN 74-3001674) and designate for the Texas Mamma Jamma Ride. Matching funds received by Lone Star Circle of Care for the Texas Mamma Jamma Ride will be credited to the fundraiser responsible for the gift.
