Lauren Davenport: Rider Profile

Texas Mamma Jamma Ride provides an opportunity for women and families with breast cancer to receive much-needed support from our beneficiaries, thanks to the efforts of our own community. Seeing such a large group of people all riding for the same purpose proves our determination to helping those who are suffering from breast cancer. Team SailPoint had the most riders of any other team in 2018’s ride, and we had a chance to ask the team captain, Lauren Davenport, what her reason is for riding.

Tell us a little about yourself.
I work at SailPoint as a project manager and take advantage of anything that gets me outside, cycling being a primary activity! I also volunteer with several incredible organizations around town.

Why do you ride?
Cancer has affected so many around me. It can arise out of the blue and flip our world upside down. Providing support during such a challenging time is a gift that can impact lives. The support that surrounded my family through our various cancer trials played a huge role in our ability to continue to walk through that season. It is a joy to be part of this event that rallies the community together.

How do you prepare for the ride?
I like to train with others! People make the difference; which is why the Mamma Jamma is one of the best rides! I start training in January for a Spring ride and carry that into the summer when Mamma Jamma training begins. I try to ride most weekends I am in town during cycle season. Post-ride, I usually always have one or two Nuuns!

What stands out to you personally about Texas Mamma Jamma Ride?
This group is phenomenal! This was more than a ride. Training together before the ride provides the opportunity to build relationships with all those participating, not just your own team. The Mamma Jamma team makes it fun! The excitement, support and organization they put into this entire event year-round is remarkable.

What is one thing you'd say to convince a friend or family member to join you in the ride?
They make it easy and fun! It’s the best training and ride event out there! Anyone can do it. I can’t say enough about the staff and other riders. This is what I think helped me surpass my goal for our Mamma Jamma SailPoint team! Everyone loved it! It gets people of all levels out riding for a cause we can all rally for.
