Stacy Armijo: Rider Profile
Dedication is a word commonly associated with perseverance and hard-work, and while it is rightfully so, it is also aptly associated with compassion and friendship. For rider Stacy Armijo, dedication embodies both her own drive to ride, and her introduction to the Mamma Jamma Ride.
Who or what drives your ride?
I was diagnosed with breast cancer this year and a friend who was already participating in the Mamma Jamma ride chose to dedicate her ride to my recovery. That inspired me to participate myself and raise money.
What about the Mamma Jamma Ride makes riding a valuable experience?
I enjoyed that the Mamma Jamma Ride isn’t competitive and has a distance ride for riders at every level. I did the shortest distance and it was a great experience, both challenging for a first-time rider like me and still fun.
Do you have any advice on fundraising or participating in the ride for those who are first time riders?
Just embrace it and enjoy it!
How has Mamma Jamma helped you or someone you care about personally?
I’m lucky that I’ve not needed services from places like the Breast Cancer Resource Center, but it still makes me feel good to know that it’s there if I need it, or when others experiencing something similar do.
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I am the Chief Experience Officer for Amplify Credit Union. My husband Ronnie and I live in Cedar Park with our two boys, ages 9 and 5.
Are you on a team? If so, tell me a little bit about your experiences riding and fundraising as a team member.
I was on the VCFO team and it was a delight having a group to ride with and seeing others also raising money via social media.
