Moving Forward: The Mamma Jamma Challenge

Dear Friends,

We had long held out hope that the size of our ride and location would have allowed us to host a deeply modified, socially distanced event. Unfortunately, the current status of the pandemic makes an in-person, mass gathering too risky for our riders, volunteers, and host communities. While we will greatly miss seeing you in Martindale on 9.19.20, we are pleased to announce the 2020 Mamma Jamma Challenge, a super cool eight-day cumulative time challenge that will take the place of our in-person ride this year.

The dates of the Mamma Jamma Challenge are 9.12.20 to 9.19.20 and activity will be tracked on Strava.  To complete the Challenge, all you will need to do is log 120 cumulative minutes of activity in Strava. You can ride your bike, run, walk, hike, paddle – do what you like to do to move and stay fit! The goal is to support those battling breast cancer while doing your favorite activities.

Why eight days? We move for the one in eight women who will get breast cancer and to raise funds to support eight beneficiary organizations that provide vitally important services to the Central Texas breast cancer community.

If you are already registered, your current registration and fundraising will follow you to the Mamma Jamma Challenge. Your registration fee will be applied to your fundraising total, and you are automatically eligible for the Challenge Kit. Starting 8.13.20, new participants will sign up for the Mamma Jamma Challenge and will not pay a registration fee to join. Below are the fundraising levels and benefits.

  • Registration: $0

  • Challenge Kit: $35 (bib, Skratch hydration packet, Oatmega Bar, and other fun goodies)

  • Medal (plus all the above): $100

  • T-Shirt (plus all the above): $300

  • Big Wig Jersey (plus all the above): $1,000

Get Moving to Beat Breast Cancer! Here are five ways to get ready for the Challenge:

  1. Register for the Mamma Jamma Challenge.

  2. Sign up for Strava (free), join the Texas Mamma Jamma Club and practice logging in your activity.

  3. Like and follow @mammajammaride on social media for the latest updates.

  4. Make a list of all the people who will want to join you for the Mamma Jamma Challenge! It will be fun and attainable for everyone! Goal of 120 minutes over eight days is just 15 minutes of activity per day!

  5. Fundraise to support those battling breast cancer right here in Central Texas.

Breast cancer is not taking a pause during the pandemic and neither are we. The hashtag for our Challenge is #moveforboobs. We may not be “pedaling” together this year, but we are still Mamma Jamma! We are grateful for your support.
